DESECRESY was formed in 2009 by Tommi Grönqvist and Jarno Nurmi following the decision to end their previous band, SLUGATHOR. Tommi began working on new material, soon joined by Jarno on vocals. As a two-piece, DESECRESY set out to craft crushingly heavy Death Metal with a dark and eerie atmosphere, drawing inspiration from bands such as ABHORRENCE (Fin), BOLT THROWER, GRAVE, IMMOLATION, RIPPIKOULU and INCANTATION. While deeply rooted in the early 90's Death Metal sound, DESECRESY refuses to merely replicate the past, aiming instead to create Death Metal as it should be, not just as it once was.

      With a clear vision and a wealth of material from the outset, DESECRESY quickly moved into the studio to record their debut full-length, "Arches of Entropy", completed in the summer of 2010. The album was subsequently sent to Xtreem Music, marking the beginning of a long-standing collaboration. Under this label, DESECRESY has continued to strengthen its place within the tradition of Finnish Death Metal with a steady stream of releases: "The Doom Skeptron" (2012), "Chasmic Transcendence" (2014), "Stoic Death" (2015), "The Mortal Horizon" (2017), "Towards Nebulae" (2019), "Unveil in the Abyss" (2022) and "Deserted Realms" (2023).

      "The Secret of Death" stands as the band's ninth full-length album and the fifth created entirely by Tommi alone. The album continues DESECRESY's ongoing descent into oppressive sonic landscapes, combining early 90's-inspired brutality with an atmosphere drawn from the darkest layers of the psyche.

      DESECRESY represents a fully self-contained entity, where music, production and artwork all originate from a single mind. The result is a dark, atmospheric and hypnotic sound rooted in Finnish Death Metal, infused with Doom elements, featuring deep subterranean vocals, churning riffs and evocative lead guitars, often shifting through unconventional structures and tempos.
