Comment:
Chile has always been a country with great tradition of quality Death Metal bands like PENTAGRAM, SADISM, TOTTEN KORPS, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR, UNDERCROFT... but after some years of emptiness, DEFACING arise to lead the new wave of ultra-brutal bands from that country.

After and impressive demo in 2003 that completely astonished the underground, DEFACING are now able to become one of the new references in the worldwide brutal Death scene. “Spitting Savagery” is an album with a great production that discovers a band that blends the most extreme brutality with the finest instrumental precission.

Taking influences from bands like CRYPTOPSY, BRODEQUIN & DISGORGE (usa), this work goes one step beyond and will impress everyone with its extraordinary perfection in every aspect!!

El demo “The Beginning of Human Cruelty” lanzado el 2003.

Being unable to find any background information on this band that was in English, let's just say that Defacing is from Chile and they had a demo in 2003, and Spitting Savagery is their first release, on Spain's Xtreem Music. Honestly, you don't need much more history on them than that. What you DO need, is to hear this album, it's easily the best brutal death release so far of 2005, possibly even going back farther than that.

Putting the CD in, pushing play and the music starting is the equivalent of stepping out your front door, minding your own business, and BAM! being hit by a Mack truck... followed closely by a Greyhound bus, and then a tank. If you're looking for in-your-face aggression and brutality, this is the album you've been waiting for. It's got speed, technicality, and flat-out violence.

The guitars and bass are tightly woven and intricate; the drums are ungodly fast, sounding almost like a machine gun, and the vocalist has what all brutal death vocalists should strive for, the perfect growl. Not pitch-shifted, not the shouty bellowing grunt kind... but deep, booming, ferocious growliness. The songs move right along and never get old no matter how many times you play the disc, and this is only their first album!!

This is one of those bands you'll definitely want to keep an eye on as their careers progress. It will be interesting to see where they'll go from here, I don't know if it's possible that they can get any heavier than they already are. Let's hope they don't change their style any. For fans of brutal death, completely essential. For those who aren't fans of the genre, this album will make you one.

Yeah!. Defacing are without doubts the most fucking brutal band from Chile ever!. If you just carry the savagery of Internal Suffering, mix it with complex arrangements from Cryptopsy and the intensity of Brodequin, you'll be in front of Defacing. Ultra guttural vokills (totally impossible to vocalize!), unmercyful unnatural drum beating (it seems sometimes like a mad deviated drum machine!), and some good riffs makes this album a very good piece of shit to blow out your thin mind.
This item is only similiar in brutality to Brodequin's "Festival Of Death", so if you like more calmed music, this is not for you at all!

Extreme brutality....

Personally, I would have preferred the vocals to be a bit more distinct, but as long as they stay away from the pig/frog approach, I am ok with it. Especially when the music to back them up is as powerful as in the case here. "Spitting savagery" is a severe onslaught of rarely heard brutality. The music is modern and ultra-brutal yet at the same time has quite memorable riffing. Without a doubt one of the better new bands from Chile. Great production as well.
