NECROPHILIAC
NECROPHILIAC
Biografía:
In early 1987, some friends devoted to californian Death/Thrash band Possessed that heavily influenced them on the beginning, decided to join forces and start making a similar but very primitive songs trying to emulate LP’s like “Seven Churches’’ or ”Beyond the Gates’’.
That very early years, Piti (drums), Ratón (bass), Ery (guitar) and Bongo (vocals) arranged some songs and made a couple of shows on local and close towns, suffering mockery most of the time due to lack of similar bands in Andalusia by that time.

ENDLESS DEATH (Live Demo 1988)
Highly influenced by Venom, Possessed, Sepultura, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Black Sabbath, with mostly satanic lyrics and imagery, Necrophiliac recorded a live show in Utrera (Seville) with sevillian Hard Rock band Urbe. This live recording was released as a demo (due to total lack of resources, many of these early demos were live and not studio recordings...) and sent to a spanish magazine devoted to Hard Rock (Heavy Rock magazine), surprisingly getting a good review.

INFERNAL EXORCISM (Demo 1989)
In 1989 Piti left the band, while searching for a more compact sound Uly joins Necrophiliac playing bass guitar, Ratón begins as rhythm guitar while Ery remains as lead guitar. These line-up changes took them to write a bit more technical songs, but keeping part of this primitive Thrash/Death/Black style.
With this line-up they record a new demo, again with very little resources, using equipment from a sound technician and recording many takes while they play as a live show.

NECROSION (Rehearsal Demo 1990)
In 1990 due to some differences with the rest of the band, Ratón leaves them as a quartet again. With this line-up they began to explore trully Death Metal style, leaving influences from Possessed and beginning to show complete devotion to Chuck Schuldiner’s Death and his first albums like “Scream Bloody Gore’’ and ”Leprosy’’.
One of the rehearsals that year is recorded, with enough quality to release as a rehearsal demo showing some of these new songs featuring what would later become their particular style.

PROCESS OF EMPALEMENT (Live Demo 1990)
On 22th of June, 1990, Necrophiliac plays a live show in Seville, at Roll Dancing hall, with spanish thrashers Legion. Miguel joins the band as new guitarrist replacing Ratón, but with no time to prepare songs Necrophiliac plays live with four members line-up. This recording session has a decent sound quality and they decided to release it as a new demo and distribute it massively to show the definitive direction on both style and lyrics, more influenced by Death Metal sound. Miguel already appears on demo cover photo and became a definivite member.
Again, very few resources provide a rather primitive sound compared with other bands at the moment. A low budget amplifier for only one guitar and two feedbacker distortion pedals mounted on serial gives the characteristic sound of this demo, far from typical sound from other Death Metal bands that recorded studio demos these years.

EXCREMENTAL PREGNANCY (Demo 1990)
Dave Rotten (Drowned Prod.) got in contact with the band and shown interest on releasing their two demos “Infernal Exorcism’’ and ”Process of Empalement’’ with a better quality of audio, cover and a better distribution through his label Drowned Productions. Thanks to a better distribution through this label, this demo reaches a higher audience and Necrophiliac began to appear on many foreign fanzines and getting possitive reviews on many of them.
This was the first collaboration with Dave Rotten that later would be followed by the release of the only LP that Necrophiliac released on 1992.

UNRELEASED 7"EP's & VISCERAL FRUIT (demo 1991)
After Miguel joined the band, his main influences (Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel) were reflected on new stuff written by the band. Miguel and Bongo started a parallel Grind/Death project that finally decided to abandon and use the stuff on Necrophiliac. Two of the songs composed on that project were “Necrotic Narcosis’’ and “Gorefruit Treasure’’, they were both incorporated to Necrophiliac songlist.
By that time, Seraphic Decay Records and another label (we can’t remember, sorry), offered Necrophiliac to release two 7”EP’s entitled “Tombifiex Sex’’ and “Bowelfeasted Gorgon’’. They entered a small 4-track studio and recorded four songs for these two labels, but for one reason or another, both deals failed and these EP’s were never released and these recordings were forgotten. These songs were later re-recorded and released as a demo called “Visceral Fruit’’ with a bit different sound and arrangements, which is the one included on the double 12”LP re-issue of “Chaopula, Citadel of Mirrors” by The Crypt Records in 2014.
These songs recorded for the EP and later released on the “Visceral Fruit’’ demo were definitely the line of sound and compositions that Necrophiliac was searching for, and that would continue on their first release on LP “Chaopula, Citadel of Mirrors’’ released on 1992 by Dave Rotten (Drowned Productions).

CHAOPULA, CITADEL OF MIRRORS (LP 1992)
Finally, Necrophiliac signs with Drowned Productions (Madrid), label where Dave Rotten was releasing mainly extreme Metal bands. They agreed to release two LP’s, and enter Central Studios on Seville with almost no experience on recording such kind of projects. This is why this LP sounds so terribly, recorded on about six days and mixed in a few hours, this LP was awarded in Spain as “best 1992 Death Metal demo”.
Despite of its sound, music riffs with melodic parts, raw vocals, strange lyrics and of course one of the weirdest covers (artwork by Luis Alfaro) will make this LP an atipic piece of Death Metal by that years, far from influences from nordic, european and american Death Metal bands, creating its own universe where Necrophiliac sounds different to any other band at the moment.
But there was no second LP where to hide deeper into their universe. After some shows in late 1993, tired and with internal problems they decided to abandon the project, leaving some interesting stuff planned to release on second LP unrecorded and forgotten forever.
