Bienvenidos a 1991!!

Coming from Holland and featuring current SOULBURN / SUPREME BLOOD COURT member returns NAILGUN MASSACRE with their new album after 4 years since their debut. With an authentic old school Death Metal attitude and taking some ingredients from established Death Metal legends like AUTOPSY, ASPHYX and UNLEASHED. NAILGUN MASSACRE keep it raw, nothing is polished here, just a simple and efective formula. Vocalist Corpsechucker could remind you of some of the greatest Death Metal vocalists, from Chris Reifert to Stevo from IMPETIGO and even Martin van Drunen. Probably my favorite detail about the album should be the MASSACRE, old DEATH mid tempo riffing department, they’re always about this through out basically the whole album. With "Boned, Boxed And Buried", NAILGUN MASSACRE could definitely find a right spot in the already over crowded retro Death Metal movement.

The Netherlands has garnered an impressive reputation for producing some really stellar Extreme Metal bands in the last decade or so. From CARACH ANGREN's Symphonic Black Metal mastery to Death Metal legends LEGION OF THE DAMNED, to name but two, it's safe to say that this is a nation that knows how to write a devilish and demonic ditty. NAILGUN MASSACRE are one such band that writes Metal of the Extreme variety who have already put out an album of great Death Metal tracks. And their second record, "Boned, Boxed and Buried" is no different.

"Where's the Head?" kicks this album off in a suitable fashion. It's a fairly straight forward Death Metal track, with thick guitar riffs and the power of Hairybucks driving the song forward from behind the drum kit. The title track opens on a twin guitar riff that is strongly reminiscent of "Heartwork" era CARCASS, before the main part of the song is built around much darker, dirtier, old school riffs. The bizarrely named "Stinky Stench" serves as a fast, hard, punky kick in the face from the band, and is one of the highlights of the album. The albums fourth track, "I Bury the Hatched in your Face" is more of a straight forward, mid-paced Death Metal track, but isn't really a stand out track in any regard. "Meat Locker", by contrast, is a really solid piece of music; it's well written, and music all fits together seamlessly, and the sound bites that are utilized in the song are only used when it will enhance the music on offer. "Nailgun Messiah" is another really fast, ferocious, old school Death Metal song with some really powerful drumming on it. It's easily among the best songs on the album. The slow chug of "Casket Full of Fun" is another really good song that delivers musically.

This really is an album that gets better as it goes along. After "The Doctor and The Beast", a song which is sadly average at best, "Mad Road Killer" rampages and stampedes the album back onto form before the last two tracks commence. "What's in the Box?" is a short piano piece that acts as an interlude before the final song, "Lower Me Down" begins. This last song, at almost eight minutes long, is the longest track on the album by far, and starts with a slow, melodic riff in the vein of early PARADISE LOST, and then becomes a brilliantly macabre, slow and dark tune. The twin guitar sections work very well, and the atmosphere makes this one of the albums main highlights.

With all the musical hooks and talent of early AUTOPSY and ASPHYX, coupled with the tongue in cheek humour of MACABRE, this album is sure to go down well with old and new Death Metallers alike. If these sort of bands are right up your street, then you might want to give this album a try.

Nakonec vše zapadlo do sebe.

Doporučuji si k „Boned, Boced and Buried“ otevřít láhev něčeho dobrého a spojit poslech se čtením nějakého napínavého příběhu.

O příslušnosti k řádu hnilobných rytířů mě ujišťuje i jedno jméno v bookletu.

Mnohdy mluvím o dávném prokletí a tentokrát tomu nebude jinak. Absolut old school death metal!

Lords of Metal Ezine (hol) 06.02.2015
The 2011 debut ’Backyard Butchery’ by Nailgun Massacre from Leiden in the Netherlands was appreciated by Lords Of Metal. The band now returns with their second album ‘Boned, Boxed And Buried’. Looking at the titles of both albums it seems alliteration is a big thing for this band. Even when Nailgun Massacre started out in 2010 we aren’t dealing with beginners. A large part of the line-up used to be active in Xenomorph. That band is hardly comparable to Nailgun Massacre through. Xenormorph is of the more technical variety where Nailgun Massacre is crude old-school death metal. They can be best compared to Autopsy but there are also similarities to Obituary or old Death. You won’t find any weird things on Boned, Boxed And Buried’. The band has no intention to refine the genre. This is death metal as it was meant to be; catchy and heavy. Next to that the band has a good sense of humour. You will never get the idea this is a heavily laden album. It’s more in the category “don’t mess about, just play”. I do need to mention the capacities of vocalist Corpsechucker. His varied style lies somewhere between Chris Reifert and John Tardy. A style that fits the music and completes the overall picture. Finally I also would like to mention the fact guitarist Bonesaw is also active in Grand Supreme Blood Court and Soulburn. I guess you’ll understand Nailgun Massacre is worthy of checking out too.

I remember getting Nailgun Massacre’s debut CD, with a silver nail in the jewel box spine, which I thought was pretty creative and sick.

Well, “Boned, Boxed and Buried” picks up where there first one left off, and this slab of carnal butchery is just meant for the butcher’s block of sonic sickness. When listening to this album, it conjures up horrific images in the mind of a mad serial killer getting his fill from one of his many chopped up victims littering his garage. Instead of watching a horror flick, you’re basically listening to it the way Nailgun Massacre perform some of their songs with chilling narratives. These spoken narratives only add more visualization for the frail mind, therefore scaring the living shit out of you.

I love their down tuned guitars, as they reek so much havoc on your senses. The death metal traits are high and mighty, with tons of Death, Asphyx, Autopsy and Obituary influences to keep the listener engaged.

With track titles like “Where’s The Head”, “Casket Full Of Fun”, “The Doctor And The Beast”, “Mad Road Killer” and “Lower Me Down”, you can’t help but laugh as their lyrics are pretty funny and not meant to be taken seriously. Also, a soundbyte taken from a classic horror flick, on the hideous sounding “Lower Me Down” is pretty cool, as it gives this song so much more versatility as far as good atmosphere is concerned. Now I know what makes a good horror flick so fucking horror-filled.

Nailgun Massacre is not going to move any mountains, but sure know how to recreate that ancient feeling, which death metal was brimming with in its heyday. “Boned, Boxed, and Buried” is very horrific and ghoulish sounding and sure to make your goose bumps fall off.

Two Guys Metal Reviews (fra) 19.01.2015
There is a certain poignant beauty to gore metal that few other genres have. The thing is, this type of music speaks to something darker within us all and gives us a sort of profane liberation. After listening to a song like I Bury The Hatchet In Your Face how can you not just say "Fuck it"? The catharsis found in records like Boned, Boxed and Buried is just as important, if not more, as the way it appeals to your inner fifteen your old. This record is gory, brutal, and massively enjoyable in every possible way.

Nailgun Massacre do not seek to deny their old school death metal roots, and in fact at some points they come dangerously close to musically quoting them. Not that that would be a bad thing though, in fact Boned, Boxed And Buried is able to capture the imagination and leave us not only ripped and torn, but riding a veritable ocean of viscera into a better world. The riffs on this record are doom laden, even the faster ones give you a sense that something terrible is going to happen. Often relying on a mid paced crunch Boned, Boxed, and Buried forces your face into a pile of regurgitated guts and then gets you to swallow the filth.

Filled with chunky vocal lines and all sorts of blasphemies that become endlessly fascinating after multiple listens, Nailgun Massacre are more than metal masters. They're the kind of people who take all that is demented with a band like Cannibal Corpse and then push it up another level. This isn't just obscene and extreme, this is utter liberation from all sorts of paradigms that dictate everyday life. Nailgun Massacre provide an escape, and as you descend into their strange otherworldly hell, you can feel the world coming to an end.

Listening to the second full length album of NAILGUN MASSACRE I'm wondering if it would be OK if I called them "The Dutch AUTOPSY". Would I be using the name AUTOPSY in vein and could I therefore be charged with blasphemy? No, I think AUTOPSY would be proud that their name was used as comparison for this foul and depraved piece of sick deathmetal. Proud, I say!

The fact that this music lacks every bit commercial sense, the fact that the vocalist, aptly named Corpsechucker, is puking his lyrics upon me and the fact that this horror themed deathmetal is like a freight train under which bones are being shattered to dust make this an album that is a mandatory buy for fans of depraved deathmetal.

Besides the sickening horror theme, NAILGUN MASSACRE also doesn't lack humor. The song CASKET FULL OF FUN even made me think of MACABRE a bit. Besides the fact that MACABRE could also use a song title like this, the use of an almost childlike refrain gives a MACABRE kinda vibe.

What more can I say? Even though the year is extremely young, I think this will be one of the better releases in the genre, if not the best and again, if you are into sick deathmetal like the genre made famous by AUTOPSY you should most definitely give this band a chance!
