Voices From the Darkside Wbz (ger) 08.11.2015 Everything is done just right on CORROSIVE CARCASS “Forsaken Landsâ€�. Traditional Swedish Death Metal, nothing else. They are not busy with different genre experiments or any awkward copying pandemonium. As well as typical Doom parts you'll be pleased with d-beats, blasts, disharmonious riffing and different varieties of growling. In substance everything which is needed to wander the Death howling woods of Gästrikland and not go astray. Personally I am not the biggest fan of switching the vocal styles so often. Specially if you are not coming up with something really persuasively. But ok, this is not real big demerit. It's more the impress “Forsaken Landsâ€� leaves me with. Sometimes quite ordinary and then very entertaining and catchy. Strangely both, the ordinary and the catchy part, divided nearly in half. The whole first half of the album was kind of boring and the second is the total opposite. From '...And So She Dies (In Sacrifice)' on the guitars sound somehow not that watery anymore and the focus seems more on the lyrics and the singer. Who also doesn't bounce here and there anymore. All in all the second half appears more grown up and focused and offers clearly more delightedness, like the instrumental song 'Residual'. CORROSIVE CARCASS deliver a pretty enjoyable second album. Something for hardcore fans with the will and ear for the little amusements in between. Su primer trabajo “Composition of Fleshâ€� me pareció de lo mejorcito en cuanto a Death Metal de verdad se refiere. Su nuevo álbum aun no ha salido, pero ya os adelanto que es un cañonazo. Y diréis, ¿y qué vas a decir publicando la reseña de un grupo de la casa? ¿No? En, necios e ilusos vosotros pobres y desdichados mortales que no vais a dar una oportunidad a este disco o que a lo mejor lo pillaréis con un poco de tiña por eso de la falta de objetividad. El tiempo y las webs independientes a este sello me acabarán dando la razón en mayor o menor medida, ya veréis. Y es que “Composition of Fleshâ€� supuraba maldad, garrulismo, macarrería y brutalidad por los cuatro costados con un sonido primitivo y frío como el culo del Yeti, sensaciones que se han visto elevadas a la enésimapotencia en su nuevo trabajo “Forsaken Lands“. Ya desde su ópera prima dejaban entrever sus raíces natales y el estilo sueco estuvo siempre presente, aunque creo que en “Forsaken Landsâ€� se ve mucho más acentuado. ¿Otros que se han subido al carro del Boss HM2? Y yo que sé. Lo único que puedo decir que a mi este disco me tiene enganchado. Los temas son abrumadoramente sólidos, con una base rítmica trabajadísima y unos riffs pegadizos como pocos. En general, parece que han levantado un poco el pie del acelerador y ya no predominan los temas rápidos de forma tan acentuada. No me malinterpretéis, los sigue habiendo, pero ya no ocupan un espacio tan grande en el tracklist. Y digo esto a sabiendas de que a más de uno le puede frenar un poco a la hora de hacerse con este disco, pero os equivocaríais de hacerlo. Aunque suene raro, los mejores temas (a mi parecer claro) de “Forsaken Landsâ€� son precisamente los lentos y machacones. Tienen un rollazo al más puro estilo GRAVE que te dejarán el cráneo como papel de fumar. El sonido general del disco es sensacional. La guitarra es destripadora aunque de sobra conocida, muy al estilo DISMEMBER, la base rítmica es un terremoto de escala 7 que agrietará las paredes de tu casa con un bajo sucio como una porqueriza y asfixiantemente denso, acompañando a la perfección a una batería con un bombo devastador y una caja aplastante, quizás el único pero lo veo en los platos, los cuales se me antojan demasiado brillantes y en ocasiones algo sibilinos. Aunque donde más se nota la mejoría en su sonido es sin duda en la voz. Mientras que en “Composition of Fleshâ€� era algo más desgarrada y con reverb a dolor, ahora suena mucho más clara, definida, gutural y con mucho más cuerpo y personalidad. En cuanto a los temas en sí, esto es Death Metal auténtico, variado, con cambios de ritmo más que acertados y lejos de toda pomposidad y adorno innecesario. En definitiva, un gran disco, donde empezando por la brutal portada increíble como siempre obra del gran Juanjo Castellano, pasando por su brutal y auténtico sonido y llegando a unos temas currados como pocos. “Forsaken Landsâ€� emana el auténtico sonido y espíritu del Death Metal por los cuatro costados. Una obra donde la banda deja bien clara su evolución hacia un estilo mucho más maduro y en la que dejan maravillado con unos temas sólidos como rocas. No lo dudéis, este disco merece la pena… y mucho!!!
