Atanatos Web Portal (spa) 26.05.2017 El Doom en España esta “muertoâ€� y nunca mejor dicho; dentro de los sonido extremos, es el estilo mas menospreciado en nuestro país, pero eso no significa que el poco que se hace no sea bueno; este es el caso que nos ocupa; Famishgod es el enésimo proyecto de Dave Rotten, este chico no para, y lo bueno es que no se encasilla, desde aquí hacemos un llamamiento a cualquier promotor para montar un festival solo con los grupos de Dave, seria genial verle variar los registros de voz según el grupo y estilo, lo que no sabemos es si el aguantaría, se lo preguntaremos. Aquí esta acompañado por Funedëim al bajo y guitarra. A lo que vamos; su anterior trabajo, “Devourers of Lightâ€� ya estaba en el buen camino del estilo y este trabajo confirma que quizas Famishgod sea el mejor grupo de Doom español en estos momentos. No vamos a hacer hincapié en que la batería autentica mejora cualquier trabajo, lo sabemos todos, y mas ellos que ya llevan tiempo en esto, y es un gran punto a favor en el disco. En cuanto te pones a escuchar el disco una atmósfera oscura te atrapa, como debe ser, te hipnotiza, te lleva a pasajes opresores. Los temas son largos, muy largos, eso no significa que sean monótonos, tiene una estructura que va desde pasajes mas pesados a guitarras limpias lo que hace que los temas tengan una variación desoladora. Tema aparte es la voz, Dave consigue en ciertos momento una guturalidad que da miedo, así como suena, sus registros son impresionantes, hay momentos que lo combina con voces agudas Blackeras, cosa que en su anterior trabajo no era así, lo que demuestra la madurez que van consiguiendo con el paso del tiempo sin llegar a estancarse y proponiendo cosas nuevas, lo cual es bastante interesante en cualquier grupo, y mas en este estilo. Las canciones a destacar, pues “Molested, Defiled, Disruptedâ€� y la canción que abre el disco, “Abyss of the Underworldâ€�, y no porque sean mejores a las demás, aqui desde luego nosotros no tenemos canción “favoritaâ€� del disco, este trabajo es un todo, en el cual un tema no puede vivir sin los temas, es un disco del cual no puedes escuchar canciones sueltas, se debe escuchar siempre entero, te lo pide el cuerpo, simplemente destacamos estas dos porque son un claro ejemplo de lo que es Famishgod y “Roots of Darknessâ€�. “Roots of Darknessâ€�, es oscuridad, es pesado, primitivo, y una delicia para los aficionados al estilo que desde luego no os podéis perder, eso si, una advertencia, no es de escucha fácil, con este disco no te puedes iniciar en el estilo, si no has escuchado Doom empieza por otra cosa, esto es la delicatessen que tendrás cuando te aficiones al Doom, y hazlo porque con discos como este merece muchísimo la pena. Ozývaly se zespoda divné zvuky. Musel jsem tomu přijít na kloub. Už se nikdy nevrátím, líbí se mi tady, v podzemí. Po tváři mi lezou krvaví červi, v kostech se rozkládá postupně strach. Teď jsem to i já, kdo vydává šílené skřeky. Jsem mezi svými, nemrtvými. Válí se mlha kolem naší chaty, čouhají ruce utopenců z černé hladiny jezera. NaÅ¡lapuji opatrně, abych celou šílenou, ale zároveň poklidnou atmosféru nenaruÅ¡il. Na stromech visí oběÅ¡enec s tváří obrácenou k nebi. Usedám do proutěného křesla, zapaluji dýmku plnou Å¡ustivých bylin a plně se oddávám novému albu Å¡panělských FAMISHGOD. Do éteru beznaděje se vyhrne jako žhavá láva hudba ve stylu INCANTATION, GRAVE MIASMA, DISEMBOWELMENT, INVERLOCH, WINTER, NECROS CHRISTOS. Je na čase zase jednou poctivě umřít, zmítám se ve svých pocitech jako ten oběÅ¡enec ve větru. Tohle je hudba pro hluboké rozjímání, pro chvíle, kdy se zastavíte a začnete přemýšlet nad svým osudem. V hlavě se vám už jako dítěti usadila myÅ¡lenka, co bude jednou po smrti a FAMISHGOD jsou těmi, kteří na ní dávají odpověď. Ta je sice zahalena v mlze nejistoty, ale o to je přitažlivější. Parádní temný zvuk, těžké mokvající nápady dělají z alba "Roots of Darkness" až bolestivou záležitost. Nutná je samozřejmě výbava v podobě hrobnického náčiní a přesvědčení o tom, že máte death/doom metal rádi. Není nutné se dál modlit k neexistujícím bohům. Raději zaměřte svůj zrak do říše mrtvolných fantazií. Říkala mi moje milá, abych tam nechodil. Neposlech jsem ji a teď jsme tu oba dva. Proměněni v prach. Death doomové album, které mě naplnilo tmou a smutkem. Velmi dobře! sumarizace: Loňské album "Roots of Darkness", plné toho nejsmrdutějšího old school death metalu, se rozhodně povedla. Najdete na něm ty nejvybranější kousky zahnívajícího masa. Každý hrobník, fanouÅ¡ek old school death metalu a doomu by měl zbystřit svoji pozornost. Na albu se totiž odehrávají ty nejtemnější okultní rituály, chrastí se s kostmi a drtí se lebky ostrými melodiemi. FAMISHGOD pocházejí z toho nejhlubšího podzemí a na jejich hudbě je to znát. Jakub Asphyx Raben Report Webzine (ger) 28.01.2017 Dave Rotten ist ein vielseitiger Musiker und dürfte aufgrund seines Schaffens bei solch Knüppelbarden wie Avulsed, Christ Denied oder Putrevore durchaus einen gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad haben. Qualitativ gibt es dabei beständig starke Kost und somit durfte man nun auch gespannt sein, was die neue Veröffentlichung von Famishgod angeht. Bei diesem Bastard hat man es mit einem schwerfälligen Monstrum zu tun, wobei das Erstwerk bereits ordentlich Eindruck schinden konnte. "Roots Of Darkness" nennt sich das zweite Werk jenen Duo's, welches sich abermals im zähen Sektor des Funeral Doom/Death Metal suhlt und gerade bei Freunden von Disembowelment sicherlich gut funzen wird. Dabei greift man tief in die modrige Kiste und liefert auf knappen siebzig Minuten recht standardmäßigen Funeral Doom ab, der immer mal mittels ruhiger Gitarren aufgelockert und durch tiefe Grunts flankiert wird. Leider muss ich jedoch schnell feststellen, dass "Roots Of Darkness" keinesfalls mit dem mächtigen "Devourers Of Light" mithalten kann. Selten wird das Gebotene mal in etwas agiler Art umgesetzt, so bietet etwa "Lost Language Of The Dead" aber diesbezüglich gute Ansätze. In solchen Punkten sitzt die Stärke von Famishgod, wo man mittels präzise eingesetzter Wuchtigkeit durchaus zu punkten versteht. Dies geschah auf dem Vorwerk in vorbildlicher Art und Weise, also bleibt die Frage, warum Famishgod diesen Weg nicht ausgebaut oder konsequent weiter gegangen sind, denn scheinbar hat man verstärkt Freude daran gefunden, sich lang gezogenen Aufbauten hinzugeben. "Roots Of Darkness" serviert am Ende ein solides Stück düsteren Metal, wobei aber das Ausbleiben markanter Passagen deutlich zu spüren ist und man sich zwischenzeitlich doch irgendwie mehr erhofft. Wem das Debüt zusagte, der kann zugreifen, wohlgemerkt sollte man aber keine Steigerung erwarten. Schade. É somente uma alegoria pra expressar o quão maldito, profano e impuro é o Famish God. "Roots of Darkness", seu segundo álbum, é uma coleção de hinos amaldiçoados por uma atmosfera maquiavélica, onde o peso, a agressividade e a podridão pavimentam um caminho tortuoso rumo à perdição. Assustador, não? É exatamente como o ouvinte deve se sentir ao ouvir esse disco. "Roots of Darkness" traz ao Doom Metal uma nova perspectiva em termos de brutalidade sonora. É tudo muito lento, muito pesado, muito distorcido. O vocal de Dave Rotten (Avulsed Official) é uma das coisas mais pavorosas de que se tem notícia. Chamá-lo simplesmente de gutural não lhe confere a real dimensão de seu poder. O cara literalmente expurga demônios em sua performance, incorporando à sonoridade um clima ainda mais perturbador. Costumam denominar esse subgênero de Funeral Doom Metal, porém, não perca tempo tentando categorizar o Famish God em terminologias estapafúrdias. Apenas desfrute do que a banda tem a lhe oferecer, mas mantenha distância de objetos perfuro-cortantes, pois o impulso suicida pode aflorar. Quer um conselho? Comece pela última faixa, "Mournful Sounds of Death", um épico Doom "low tuned" abominável de quase 11 minutos, que seria a escolha perfeita como “sound trackâ€� daquele apocalipse básico. Costa [9.5/10] DarkUndergroundMusicZine (usa) 13.12.2016 FamishGod are a band from Spain that plays funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Roots of Darkness" which was released by Xtreem Music. Distorted sounds along with clean playing starts off the album which also leads up to a heavier doom metal direction and after awhile death metal growls make their presence known and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's and grim screams can also he heard briefly and the riffs also use a decent amount of morbid sounding melodies. Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and they also mix both the heavy and clean parts and times and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic fashion and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction and synths can be heard in the background briefly. FamishGod plays a style of funeral doom/death metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover doom, desolation, death and oblivion themes. In my opinion FamishGod are a very great sounding funeral doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. Recommended tracks include "Abyss of the Underworld" "Chamber of Chaos" and "Mournful Sounds of Death". John Larsen [8/10] Xtreem Music (spa) 05.12.2016 Dos años después ya tenemos aquí el segundo larga duración del dueto formado por Funedëim al carga una vez más de guitarras y bajo y Dave Rotten a la voz. Si “Devourers of Lightâ€� ya presagiaba algo muy bueno por llegar, y “Roots of Darknessâ€� es la prueba fehaciente de ello. Creo que este disco se puede definir muy por encima y agrandes rasgos con una palabra, madurez. Y en todos los aspectos, no solo en sus temas en sí, sino también en el sonido. Una madurez y evolución que ya queda patente tanto en su alucinante nuevo logo como en la brutal portada que te encuentras nada más coger el CD. Desde los primeros acordes ya se nota un trabajo con más sentido, mejor pensado y más elaborado de fondo. Lo primero que llama la atención, es el uso de una batería auténtica dotando al sonido de mucho más vitalidad y dinamismo, además de borrar de un plumazo el aspecto más flojo de su anterior álbum. “Roots of Darknessâ€� es un muro sónico e impenetrable, denso y oscuro, de acordes largos, pausados e hipnóticos aderezados con puntuales cabalgadas llenas de rabia. Quizás se ha perdido algo de la oscuridad del primer trabajo, quizás esa nitidez le resta algo de brutalidad y cierto aire primitivo, pero sin perder en ningún momento la esencia original. Y no me malinterpretéis, suena gordo, muy gordo, y sigue siendo un ente de la noche cuyo hábitat natural es la más absoluta y fría noche. Otro detalle destacable es sin duda la presencia de guitarras limpias las cuales introducen los temas a la perfección además de otorgar un aire mucho más desolador durante éstos combinándose a la perfección con unas guitarras brutales y lentas. En cuanto a la voz, sigue muy en la línea del “Devourers of Lightâ€� alcanzando registros graves realmente acojonantes. Es una especie de homilía del diablo, susurrada lentamente con un tono cavernoso y frío como un témpano, aunque para “Roots of Darknessâ€� han introducido partes con registros mucho más agudos, incluso rozando el Black. Quizás no estemos ante el estilo más indicado para hablar de técnica ni de solos rompededos y demás polladas del estilo, sin embargo, “Roots of Darknessâ€� hace gala de un buen gusto sin igual para crear temas sólidos, con una estructura lógica (algo no siempre fácil cuando ninguno baja de los 9 minutos) y sobretodo, que consiguen a la perfección el objetivo principal de esta música; transmitir. FAMISHGOD es soledad, tristeza, es un páramo árido, desolado, inerte donde jamás volverá a haber vida y en el que solo la muerte es real. Puede sonar a delirio poético por parte de un servidor, pero os aseguro que su música es eso y más. “Roots of Darknessâ€� es Doom de alto octanaje, pesado, primitivo, oscuro, muy en la línea de grandes bandas como WINTER. Es cierto que, a mi parecer, tiene algún defecto en cuanto a las mezclas, aunque eso es más por mis gustos personales que por otra cosa. Siete temas que forman más de una hora de pura desolación musical. Si os gusta el estilo, no debéis dejarlos pasar, porque seguro que alucináis.
