The
only release by Swedish band HETSHEADS,
“...We Hail the Possessed”, is one
of those true gems of Swedish Death Metal from
bands that never went on to record a full-length
album (GOD MACABRE, NIRVANA 2002, CREMATORY, MACRODEX,
UTUMNO, DARKIFIED…), yet possessed a level of
quality superior to many of the bands that actually
did. We are therefore dealing with a genuine cult
band that showed great promise back in 1991 when
they first emerged. Unfortunately, time took its
toll and the members gradually moved on to more
mainstream styles (THEY CHANGED NAME TO blackshine),
but they still left behind this essential jewel
for understanding the early ’90s Swedish Death
Metal movement.
Originally released
by Repulse Records (pre-Xtreem
Music) in 1994 and licensed in Malaysia
on cassette in 1995, the album’s history has been
somewhat chaotic. In 2002, after Repulse
Records ceased operations, Blackend/
Cherry Red acquired the rights and
reissued it as a 2-CD set together with DEMENTOR,
featuring extremely poor presentation, no lyrics,
no photos, nothing. A real disaster!!
Since then, this
gem was only reissued unofficially on CD in 2016
by a Malaysian label, and later on vinyl by an
Italian label, using the demo cover artwork.
Now, under official
license from Cherry Red, Xtreem
Music finally reissues this work properly
on CD, respecting the original design and adding
extra photos, as well as on 12” LP with the original
cover artwork and insert, both editions printed
on silver just like the original. A cassette edition
and a T-shirt version have also been produced,
both strictly limited to 50 copies.
This release can
be considered an “album”, although it actually
compiles their 1991 demo and an unreleased double
EP from the same year. Pure Swedish Death Metal
for fans of ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, GOD MACABRE,
GOREMENT, NIRVANA 2002, WOMBBATH… As a side note,
the band’s vocalist went on to record the first
album by NECROPHOBIC!!
The vinyl edition
comes in silver wax with black splatter (100 copies)
as well as classic black wax (150 copies). The
CD, limited to 500 copies, includes an 8-page
booklet with lyrics and photos (both CD and LP
feature silver-printed covers, just like the original).
The cassette comes in silver with an 8-panel fold-out
cover, limited to 50 copies. A strictly limited
run of 50 T-shirts has also been produced..

El
único trabajo de los suecos HETSHEADS
"...We Hail the Possessed"
(GOD MACABRE, NIRVANA 2002, CREMATORY, MACRODEX,
UTUMNO, DARKIFIED...), pero que poseían
una calidad superior a muchísimas de las
bandas que sÍ lo hicieron. Estamos pues,
ambas limitads a 50 unidades.
Puro Death
Metal sueco para amantes de ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER,
GOD MACABRE, GOREMENT, NIRVANA 2002, WOMBBATH…
Como curiosidad, su vocalista grabó el
1er álbum de NECROPHOBIC!!
El vinilo está
disponible en color plata con splatter negro (100
copias) y en vinilo negro clásico (150
copias).
