Legendary Spanish Death Metal band AVULSED has revealed the first details of its upcoming release, and one thing is certain: this will not be just another album. In fact, it may well be one of the most personal, ambitious, and unique projects in the band's entire career.

      Under the title "Nordic Embryogenesis", the band pays tribute to the deepest roots of Scandinavian Death Metal through a covers album unlike any other. Don't expect songs by world-famous bands or the usual classics everyone knows. Instead, this is an archaeological journey into the primitive depths of Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian Death Metal, resurrecting tracks from cult demos and EP's that, in many cases, were the only recordings those bands ever left behind.

      Some of these acts disappeared before even releasing a full-length album, yet all of them helped shape the sound and identity of a scene that would eventually change the history of extreme Metal. For AVULSED, these songs are part of their musical DNA and represent a unique opportunity to bring back to life works unfairly forgotten by time.

      The reconstruction process has been monumental. In none of the cases, no sheet music, transcriptions, or documentation existed. Many guitar riffs, drum patterns, and vocal lines had to be deciphered note by note directly from old recordings, and in some cases even the lyrics had to be recovered from virtually impossible-to-find sources. A true excavation into Death Metal history.

      But the surprises don't end there.

      In another move that is practically unprecedented within the Metal scene, the eleven songs that make up "Nordic Embryogenesis" will be unveiled individually, one per week, each accompanied by its own exclusive artwork. The band will not even reveal the tracklist or the names of the bands being covered beforehand, keeping speculation and anticipation alive right up to the album's final release, scheduled for September 9th on CD, 12"LP, cassette, and digital formats through Xtreem Music.

      Some of the selected bands will be familiar to dedicated old-school Death Metal followers. Others will be a complete revelation even to the most obsessive collectors. What they all share is that, in one way or another, they helped forge the spirit and sound that gave birth to AVULSED when the band was formed in the summer of 1991.

      The drums were recorded at The Empty Hall Studios (Madrid) during April, while the guitars were tracked between March and May at Acórdica Studios (Zaragoza). Vocals were recorded at Sanctuary Studios (Cáceres). Mixing was handled by Alejandro Lobo at Acórdica Studios during May and June, while mastering was carried out by Davide Billia at MKII Studios in Italy. The cover artwork was created by Indonesian artist Rudi Yanto.

      The first song will be unveiled on Friday, June 26th. From that moment on, a new piece of this dark puzzle will be revealed every week until the end of August.

     La legendaria banda española de Death Metal AVULSED desvela los primeros detalles de su próximo lanzamiento, y una cosa está clara: no será un álbum cualquiera. De hecho, probablemente sea uno de los proyectos más personales, arriesgados y singulares de toda su carrera.

      Bajo el título de "Nordic Embryogenesis", la banda rendirá homenaje a las raíces más profundas del Death Metal escandinavo a través de un álbum de versiones muy diferente a cualquier otro. Aquí no encontrarás canciones de bandas mundialmente conocidas ni los habituales clásicos que todos esperan escuchar. Al contrario. Se trata de un viaje arqueológico hacia las entrañas del Death Metal primigenio sueco, finlandés y noruego, rescatando temas de demos y EP's de culto que, en muchos casos, fueron las únicas grabaciones que aquellas bandas llegaron a dejar tras de sí.

      Algunas de estas formaciones desaparecieron antes incluso de grabar un álbum, pero todas contribuyeron a moldear el sonido y la identidad de una escena que acabaría cambiando la historia del Metal extremo. Para AVULSED, estas canciones forman parte de su ADN musical y representan una oportunidad única para devolver a la vida obras injustamente olvidadas por el paso del tiempo.

      El trabajo de reconstrucción ha sido titánico. En ninguno de los casos no existían partituras, transcripciones ni documentación alguna. Muchos riffs, patrones de batería y líneas vocales han tenido que ser descifrados nota por nota directamente de grabaciones antiguas, e incluso algunas letras han tenido que ser recuperadas de fuentes prácticamente imposibles de rastrear. Un auténtico trabajo de excavación sonora.

      Pero las sorpresas no terminan ahí.

      En otro movimiento prácticamente inédito dentro de la escena Metal, las once canciones que componen "Nordic Embryogenesis" serán presentadas individualmente, una por semana, cada una acompañada de su propia portada exclusiva. Ni siquiera se revelará de antemano el listado de temas o las bandas versionadas, manteniendo viva la especulación entre los seguidores hasta el lanzamiento definitivo del álbum, previsto para el próximo 9 de septiembre en formatos CD, 12"LP, cassette y digital a través de Xtreem Music.

      Algunas de las bandas elegidas serán reconocibles para los seguidores más veteranos del Death Metal underground. Otras supondrán un auténtico descubrimiento incluso para los coleccionistas más obsesivos. Lo que sí tienen todas en común es haber contribuido, de una forma u otra, a forjar el espíritu y el sonido que dieron origen a AVULSED cuando la banda se formó en el verano de 1991.

      Las baterías fueron grabadas en The Empty Hall Studios (Madrid) durante el pasado mes de abril, mientras que las guitarras se registraron entre marzo y mayo en Acórdica Studios (Zaragoza). Las voces fueron grabadas en Sanctuary Studios (Cáceres). La mezcla corrió a cargo de Alejandro Lobo en Acórdica Studios durante mayo y junio, mientras que la masterización fue realizada por Davide Billia en MKII Studios (Italia). El arte de portada ha sido obra del artista indonesio Rudi Yanto.

      La primera canción verá la luz el próximo viernes 26 de junio. A partir de ese momento, una nueva pieza de este oscuro rompecabezas será revelada cada semana hasta finales de agosto.
