AVULSED continues unveiling its upcoming covers album "Nordic Embryogenesis" with a ferocious reinterpretation of "No Canonization", taken from the legendary 1990 7"EP of the same name by Swedish Death Metal pioneers CARBONIZED.

Dave Rotten himself comments the following about this song:

      "The CARBONIZED cover was another absolute certainty from the very beginning. There was never any doubt that it had to be included. Ever since their debut demo in 1989, this band completely blew my mind, and their follow-up 7"EP "No Canonization" from 1990 was the ultimate culmination of that early sound. Their next demo and debut album were still very good, but by then they had already begun shifting towards a more Grind-oriented and experimental style, a direction they pushed much further on their second and third albums.

      The band featured Matti Kärki, who would later become the vocalist of DISMEMBER & CARNAGE after leaving CARBONIZED shortly after this EP. It also included Lars Rosenberg, who joined ENTOMBED that same year before later playing with MONASTERY and briefly with THERION ("Theli"). Following "No Canonization", CARBONIZED welcomed Christofer Johnsson, mastermind behind THERION and drummer Piotr Wawrzeniuk, who would also become a member of THERION for several albums.

      What set CARBONIZED apart from the rest of the Swedish Death Metal scene was their twisted songwriting and their frantic, highly technical approach, giving them a personality all of their own. As I mentioned, later line-up changes led the band into increasingly avant-garde and psychedelic territory, eventually moving them far away from the savage Death Metal that made their early recordings so unique".

      A new piece of this dark puzzle will be revealed every friday until September 4th.

El propio Dave Rotten, comenta lo siguiente sobre esta canción:

      "La versión de CARBONIZED fue otra elección que tuve clarísima desde el primer momento. Desde su demo debut de 1989, esta banda me voló la cabeza, y su 7"EP "No Canonization" de 1990 representó la culminación absoluta de aquella primera etapa. La demo posterior y su álbum debut seguían siendo excelentes, pero para entonces ya habían empezado a orientarse hacia un estilo más cercano al Grind y la experimentación, una dirección que desarrollarían aún más en su segundo y tercer álbum.

      En la banda militaba Matti Kärki, que poco después de este EP abandonaría CARBONIZED para convertirse en vocalista de DISMEMBER y CARNAGE. También formaba parte Lars Rosenberg, quien ese mismo año entró en ENTOMBED y más tarde tocaría en MONASTERY, además de participar brevemente en "Theli" de THERION. Tras "No Canonization", CARBONIZED incorporó a Christofer Johnsson, cerebro de THERION, y al batería Piotr Wawrzeniuk, quien también formaría parte de THERION durante varios álbumes.

      Lo que diferenciaba a CARBONIZED del resto de bandas suecas de Death Metal era su retorcida forma de componer y su enfoque frenético y muy técnico, lo que les otorgaba una personalidad totalmente propia. Como ya he comentado, los posteriores cambios de formación llevaron a la banda hacia terrenos cada vez más vanguardistas y psicodélicos, alejándose por completo del salvaje Death Metal que hizo tan especiales sus primeras grabaciones".

      Una nueva pieza de este oscuro rompecabezas será revelada cada viernes hasta el 4 de Septiembre.
