Debut album from 1995 by the Swiss EXHORTATION, one of the most interesting hidden gems to emerge from the mid-1990s European Death Metal scene. “The Last Trial” showcases a band with a very distinctive identity, combining the aggression of Death Metal with Thrash Metal influences and a technical, melodic approach that was uncommon for its time.
With a solid production and well-crafted songwriting, the album develops an intense and dynamic sound where power, technicality and considerable compositional depth coexist naturally. Although it never achieved the recognition of some of its contemporaries, “The Last Trial” remains one of the most underrated releases in 1990s European Death Metal.
