6th album from 2011 by this veteran Argentine band and one of the most ambitious works of its entire career. Conceived as the first chapter of a conceptual work inspired by various episodes and rebellious figures from Argentine history, "Réquiem para los rebeldes / Necrología parte 1" finds AVERNAL further developing the stylistic evolution initiated on previous releases, fully embracing its Death 'n' Roll identity while moving away from the more orthodox Death Metal approach of its early years.
Musically, the album blends the heaviness of Death Metal with strong influences from Hard Rock, Groove and Scandinavian Death 'n' Roll. The songwriting is more atmospheric and mature than on the band's earlier releases, placing a strong emphasis on mid-paced grooves, dark melodies and distinctly Swedish-inspired riffing. The influence of ENTOMBED is particularly noticeable, yet AVERNAL succeeds in forging its own identity through Spanish-language lyrics and a character deeply rooted in its Argentine origins.
