Debut album from 2004 by this Swedish band formed by members of THERION and SOILWORK, who temporarily stepped away from their main projects to explore their more extreme musical influences. Led by brothers Kristian and Johan Niemann alongside vocalist Christofer Johnsson and drummer Richard Evensand, DEMONOID crafted a far more aggressive sound than that of their better-known bands, abandoning symphonic elements in favor of a raw and crushing approach.
"Riders of the Apocalypse" is a concept album based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and successfully blends Death Metal, Thrash Metal and touches of Black Metal. Its relentless speed, razor-sharp riffing, outstanding guitar solos and powerful production make it a formidable display of old-school extreme Metal. Although DEMONOID originally began as a side project, this album has since earned cult status among fans of technically proficient and highly aggressive Death/ Thrash Metal.
